About the Presentation:
This is a unique program about a Worcester man who rose from soldier to General and paid the ultimate price. The play is based on the one hundred-sixteen Ward letters in the Worcester Historical Museum’s collection. These letters show the effects of long separations, single parenting and the horrors of warfare. This is not only a lesson about history, but is relevant to today’s families whose loved ones have served or are currently serving our country.

About the Presenters:
Lynne McKenney Lydick is an actress and activist. Lynne’s highly acclaimed presentations at the Shrewsbury Historical Society include portrayals of Abby Kelley Foster and Clara Barton. Lynne combines her passion for acting with her (and Abby’s) passionate conviction that “all people are created equal and deserve to be free.” Lynne will be joined in the presentation by Mr. Thomas Lydick.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Shrewsbury Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
